Week 3
I am one step further. However, I am still in the process of testing the program.
I run the program on proteins in the Folding Results Database of the protein folding server and collected simulated tryptophan fluorescence data for their road maps.
I extended the function of the program, so that the output showes the simulated tryptophan fluorescence for each single protein conformation along a pathway, and started testing the extension.
What I also did this week was visiting a Biochemistry Lab and getting detailed information about intrinsic tryptophan fluorescence experiments, which was very interesting.
I also searched for related papers. The following was for me the most interesting this week:
Quantitative Prediction of Fluorescence Quantum Yields for Tryptophan in Proteins. Patrik R. Callis* and Tiqing Liu. J. Phys. Chem. B, 108 (14), 4248 -4259, 2004. 10.1021/jp0310551 S1089-5647(03)01055-1.
