Robotics VIP Assignment

Points: 10% of total assignment points (5% for report, 5% for presentation)

The purpose of this assignment is to help educate us (both you as an individual and the class as a whole) about some of the researchers that have made important contributions in the field of robotics (or related fields).

Each student will select a (different) robotics researcher (a list of candidates will be supplied), write a brief (one to two pages) biographical report about their researcher, and make a short (5-10 minutes) presentation of their report to the class. The presentations will be spread out over the semester. Your report is due when you make your presentation.

Your report should:

• include the educational background and work experience of the researcher (including current position and contact information).

• describe in high-level terms the major research contribution(s) of the researcher (citations to the literature should be provided).

• be prepared/formatted in HTML (so it can be placed in the course homepage in our VIP gallery). (Also, any links you can provide to relevant material on the web would be nice.)

In addition, you will receive extra credit if you are able to discover some interesting/amusing personal anecdote about the researcher.
