Silvius Rus - Research

A Generic Particle Transport Solver
Link to the main project page

Collaboration with the Department of Nuclear Engineering at Texas A&M University

This work was done within an Advanced Simulation and Computing Program Academic Strategic Alliance Program at Texas A&M University.

I worked within a team led by Dr. Marvin Adams. My contribution was in the design and implementation of a prototype for a parallel particle transport solver using MPI. The work resulted in a functional and scalable solver, though limited to a small set of problem types. The ASCI team at Texas A&M is currently working on designing and implementing a generic solver based on the experience gained from the prototype, and using STAPL as a generic and efficient means to express and exploit parallelism.

You can access here the main ASCI page at the Parasol Laboratory. You can view the presentation I gave at LabFest '01.
