Application for Account in the Parasol Laboratory

General Considerations

All accounts on Parasol machines must be sponsored by a principal in the research group -- one of

or by the administrator, Robert Main (administrative accounts only).

Student Account Application

All students for classes at Texas A&M University may obtain an account in the Parasol lab by applying on-line. After receiving an account, please refer to additional information for CS users.

Research Account Application

Accounts for non-Parasol members are approved on a case by case basis. Applicants should realize that the system's primary function is to support parallel research being conducted by the Parasol group and that they must demonstrate a need for a parallel environment.

To apply for an account, send e-mail to parasol-support@cs.tamu.edu including:

the nature of your research
how you plan to exploit the parallelism available
an explanation why other resources (TAMU's Supercomputing Facility, NCSA, etc.) can't fulfill your research requirements
estimated disk space requirements (with explanation)
any additional information that will help in the decision
