parasol was made possible by a generous donation from Hewlett-Packard. It's primary purpose is to aid in parallel computational research being carried out by the Parasol laboratory in the Department of Computer Science at Texas A&M University. Secondary to this mission is to provide research facilities to others who express and demonstrate a need, and to provide a platform for parallel computational instruction.

umbrella serves home directories for users without a PC dedicated to their personal use and also hosts an intranet webserver as well as many other server functions.
