Generic Image Library

Images are fundamental constructs in any digital imaging project, but the variability in image representations makes it challenging to write imaging code that is both general and efficient. I will present our Generic Image Library (GIL)- a library that abstracts image representations from algorithms on images. It allows for writing code that works for a variety of images, across color space, bit depth and planar/interleaved pixel organization, with performance similar to hand-coding the algorithm for a specific image type. Lubomir Bourdev has been working at Adobe's Office of Technology for the past 8 years. Mr. Bourdev has created a number of features in Illustrator, Acrobat, InDesign, and Photoshop Elements. He is also an author of 29 pending or issued patents. Besides Generic Programming, his interests include Computer Vision and Computer Graphics. He earned a Bachelor' and a Master' degree in Computer Science from Brown University.
